Golden, also known as the “Mountain Man,” is one of the most recognized personalities in country and gospel music, and has garnered the highest accolades both as a member of the legendary group The Oak Ridge Boys and as a solo recording artist. With over 30 million records sold, The Oak Ridge Boys have had more than a dozen number one hits and over 30 top ten hits. Their numerous platinum and gold recordings include “Thank God For Kids,” “American Made,” “Bobbie Sue,” “Ozark Mountain Jubilee,” and the crowd favorite, “Elvira.” The Oaks have received five Grammy Awards, one American Music Award, four Country Music Awards (CMA), four Academy of Country Music Awards (ACM) as well as the 2008 ACM Pioneer Award, nine Dove Awards, the Boy Scout’s Silver Buffalo Award, and the 2010 SMGM President’s Honor. In addition, they were inducted into both the Grand Ole Opry and the Gospel Music Hall of Fame in 2011. Over the years, William Lee Golden’s deep distinctive baritone voice has brought him considerable success with solo recordings as well. He was personally awarded the “Lifetime Achievement Award” from the Alabama Music Hall of Fame, and “Entertainer of the Year Award” from the Cherokee Indian Association, an organization of fifteen American tribes.
