Description:
New Coating Encapsulates Foam Signs with Polyurethane. Chemline Incorporated offers spray coatings for foam, wood and other lightweight substrates. This new product, CHEMTHANE 7000 Series, is a direct response to the industries call for a high performance, fast curing “hard coat” that will produce a glass-smooth surface. The new protective coating includes a number of features aimed at making the application and post-finish work easier: (1) Customers will not have to spend time sanding down the cured resin to get a smooth “glass-like” surface. Chemthane 7000 has been engineered to flow out better during the initial 6-8 second cure-to-the-touch time. (2) Labor-intensive surface fillers will not be required, since the cured coating does not create an “orange-peel” or a “pin hole” surface. (3) Impact resistance (>80 in lbs) and tensile strength (>3000 psi) has both been improved to better meet the requirements of architectural, retail and themed entertainment markets. Customers can encapsulate expanded polystyrene (EPS), Styrofoam®, urethane foam or other lightweight materials in a matter of seconds. Our CHEMTHANE 7000 Series creates an extremely tough, impact resistant shell of protection that resist cracking, warping and water intrusion. Best of all, the cured resin can be handled within 10 seconds of being sprayed. This fast chemical reaction allows the customer to coat multiple foam parts in a short period of time. The coatings add almost no additional surface area or weight to the foam substrate. For example, small to medium-sized signs would not require forklifts or cranes to lift them into place once coated with the CHEMTHANE 7000 Series polymer. CHEMTHANE 7000 Series are two component, spray-applied material and it requires two component proportioning equipment to apply.
